Tampa Countryway Real Estate

Tampa Countryway Real Estate

Countryway is a 25 year old community comprising 20 different single family home subdivisions and is located in Northwest Hillsborough County, just south of Westchase Tampa. The northern boundary separating Countryway from Westchase is a conservation hidden railroad track; the southern boundary is Memorial Highway; the eastern boundary meets up at Montague Street where the neighborhood of Charleston Corners begins, and finally the western boundary is Countryway Blvd.

One standout feature of Countryway is its plethora of sporting activities, all within walking distance of all its homes. First of all, there is the 18 hole Countryway Golf Club built right into the community off Waters Avenue. Thousands of Countryway homes have views of its sprawling greens from their back doors. If you are not into golf, but like to bike, skate, walk or jog, then head over to the Waters Avenue/Channel Park Trailhead (just west of Sheldon Road and East of the Golf Club) where  the Upper Tampa Bay Bike Trail runs for another 7 miles of trail north. The Countryway community residents also enjoy lighted tennis courts, sand volleyball, sport fields, playground, dog park and they even have their own outdoor Pavilion within a park that can only be reserved by them. For other Fitness programs, there is the Northwest Hillsborough Family YMCA right across the street from the Trailhead on Waters Avenue that has an Indoor basketball gym, Youth & Teen Center, group fitness room, 30’ climbing wall and a heated outdoor pool.

The location of Countryway real estate is unmatched for its easy access to the Veteran's Expressway, within 10 minutes to the Tampa International Airport, and about a 30 minute drive to the Gulf beaches. It also has plenty of everyday convenience shopping off Sheldon and Waters Avenue as well as being 10 minutes from Citrus Park Mall and the International Mall. Hillsborough Avenue is 5 minutes away and now offers exuberant shopping all the way into the town of Oldsmar in Pinellas County, up Tampa Road and Race Track Road.

Unlike Westchase, it is a CDD free community, and its homes are slightly older, built from the 1980’s to mid 1990’s. There is a community newsletter called the Countryway Record and is sponsored by neighboring business advertisements. The subdivisions of Countryway Tampa are comprised of all single family homes, each with their own personality and community spirit and are:

1.      Baybrook, a neighborhood of mostly 4 bedroom homes with over 2000 sq ft, are priced around $300,000 and is located off Waters Avenue across the street from the Countryway Golf Club.  The community of 51 homes has lakes and conservation area around most of the homes.

2.      The Greens’ homes are on the larger side, around 2500 sq ft on average, and are priced $250,000 to over $325,000 with 3 to 5 bedroom offerings. Located off Country Hollow and Waters this community of 125 single family homes is within walking distance to Lowry Elementary School.

3.      Oakridge’s large community of over 130 homes offers a wide range of sizes for its 3 to 5 bedroom styles.  One of its hidden advantages is that many homes flank the long narrow pond and stunning conservation behind their homes situated on the northern corridor of Countryway. This community also holds an Oakridge Homeowners’ Newsletter Survey because it actively seeks out its residents’ thoughts, comments, concerns, or newsworthy news because they truly want to keep Oakridge a great place to live.

4.      The Crossings, with a little over 100 homes between 1600 and 2200 sq ft in size, on lots around the size of  ¼ acre (while the average is 7000 sq ft), are priced around $250,000. Its residents like to participate in the Countryway community newsletter and always announce their community parties (such as the annual Thanksgiving Driveway Party) for all to come and meet their neighbors.

5.      The Glens, located just north of Waters off Countryway Blvd has 75 homes, smaller in size than many other Countryway subdivisions, with an average of 1300 sq ft on lot sizes smaller as well. This community of homes provides affordable prices around $200,000 with many facing a beautiful pond. In keeping with the popular environmental issues of today, this community has some sixth graders participating in the community newsletter and encouraging all people to help clean up their neighborhood when they see something that needs to be done.

6.      The Pointe community of 55 homes, ranging in size from around 1300 sq ft to over 3000 sq ft, is priced between $250,000 and $350,000. Built in the early 1990’s, it is one of the communities in Countryway that can not be seen from Waters Avenue or Countryway Blvd, but accessed from Country Hollow Drive, offering a bit more privacy to its residents. The Countryway Wellington community, whose homes all have the “Branch Mooring” street addresses like The Pointe has a much different feel in its style of homes, as I describe below. Both communities are connected by a road hidden off Waters Avenue. The Pointe is a very active community and they like to hold Progressive Dinners during the year to get to know their neighbors.

7.      Southview’s 59 homes generally offer larger homes from 2000 to over 3000 sq ft, and priced around $300,000. The community is slightly newer and homes were built around 1995. This community really likes to give recognition for its resident’s achievements and news and encourage participation in Countryway’s newsletter.

8.      The Estates, where 55 homes are all located on Bloomington Drive are higher priced homes in the $400,000 range offering 2500 to 3500 sq ft of livable space and situated mostly on lots around ¼ acre. The residents are busy getting community members to host students from Spain, for cultural learning on both sides.

9.      Stoneybrook, where all 83 homes are mostly 2500 sq ft and above and are priced around $350,000. This exclusive community offers 3 to 5 bedroom homes built around 1995, with pond and conservation views. The residents like to be known as a friendly community and have holiday parties where they invite the whole neighborhood of old and newcomers.

10.  The Meadows community just north of Waters off Countryway Blvd offers 91 homes mostly in the 1600 sq ft range with prices averaging $235,000 for 3 bedroom homes. The neighborhood likes to keep up its appearances and has had its privacy wall recently repainted and is redoing it’s landscaping at the entrance.

11.  Fountainlake offers 3 to 4 bedroom homes of all sizes in the $275,000 range and is located off Countryway Blvd, just south of Waters Avenue. It is known for its spectacular Christmas tree lights display (58,000 and counting) every year at one its residents.

12.  The Lakes is a community of 56 larger homes than many in other communities of Countryway, averaging 2000 sq ft. They also sit on larger lots averaging 7000 sq ft; some located on ponds and conservation. Homes do not go on sale frequently and they average about $325,000 to $350,000 in price.

13.  The Fairways is located right off Waters Avenue bordering the Countryway Golf Club, offers homes averaging 2000 sq ft for mostly 4 bedroom homes and priced around $300,000.

14.  The Hamptons is a small community of about 55 homes averaging 1900 sq ft for mostly 3 bedroom homes and located just south of Westchase off Countryway Blvd.

15.  The Forest is a community off the beaten path of the other Countryway homes and is located south of Waters Avenue off Countryway Blvd and Memorial Hwy. The 18 listed Homes rarely come up for sale and are mostly homes of 2000 sq ft or larger.

16.  Wellington, a community of 75 single family homes, are mostly 2 story homes, many with dormer style windows and shutters, that were popular in Cape Cod homes built in the 1930’s to 1950’s. These homes built around 1990 are more moderately priced from $175,000 to $250,000 and come with 1 or 2 car garages. While most of the lot sizes are generally smaller here, about 3300 sq ft, there are also a few homes that offer a beautiful lakefront view outside their backyard.

17.  Lakeview contains less than 50 homes, with 1/3 of them facing a pretty lake and situated on 7000+ sq ft. lot sizes. Prices range in the area of $275,000 and up.

18.  Woodlands has about 62 homes just south of Waters off Countryway Blvd that are sized from 1300 to 1700 sq ft and priced around $225,000, but don’t come on the market too often.

19.  Foxcreek, with almost 100 homes at or under 2000 sq ft are generally priced around $250,000. 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, 2 car garages are the norm and were built around 1990. Easy access from the Country Hollow west entrance, many homes flank the 2 ponds located within the community.

20.  Glen Oaks, of over 144 homes, offers a wide range of square footage from 1200 to just over 2000 sq ft, with mostly 3 bedroom models. Situated off Country Hollow and around the Golf Course, but not abutting it, this community is affordably priced in the lower $200,000’s.

Countryway Golf Club, on west Waters avenue in the heart of Countryway, was voted the Best Value Golf Course in Tampa. An executive course, this Golf Club has been in business for 18 years. With Practice facilities, Pro Shop, its own restaurant and 18 challenging holes, this club is visited by people from all around.

The Town & Country YMCA is a 21,000-square-foot facility, on Waters Avenue just west of Sheldon Road in Countryway, and serves residents of Citrus Park, Countryway, Town 'N County and Westchase. The $4-million facility includes a gym, aerobic area, fitness youth activity area for after-school care, nursery, climbing wall and outdoor swimming pool. It is right across the street from the entrance to the Upper Tampa Bay Bike Trail.

Upper Tampa Bay Regional Library is conveniently located just a ½ mile north of Linebaugh on Countryway Blvd. This Hillsborough County neighborhood addition begun in 2005 is a 15,000 sq ft facility offering all the usual library functions as well as establishing a “Friends Group” consisting of like-minded individuals that started a “Library Tree” art piece depicting contributors to this county library for years to come. After choosing a favorite read either in the Library or Gazebo Bookstore, you can stroll outside and leisurely read in the Outdoor Gazebo located on the premises.

Some of the best of Tampa’s Hillsborough County Public Schools are located in the Countryway area.
